The Bison.

bison  The American bison once was found in most of Canada, the United States and parts of Mexico. Wild populations are now limited national parks and refuges. Bison can be found in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, National Bison Range in the Flathead Valley of Montana, the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in southwest Oklahoma, the Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge in northern Nebraska, Sullys Hill National Wildlife Refuge in northwestern North Dakota, Walnut Creek National Wildlife Refuge in central Iowa and the Wood Buffalo National Park in Northwest Territory, Canada.

The Grizzly or Brown Bear.

grizzlybear     grizzlyThe brown bear’s range circles the arctic. It can be found from the Arctic coast down into the central parts of Europe and Asia. In North America, it can be found in Alaska and western Canada.
The brown bear was once common west of the Mississippi but its population dropped as the west was settled. There are still some populations in scattered areas of the western United States. The brown bear is a threatened species in the lower 48 states. There are currently about 1,200 brown bears in the lower 48 states and about 31,700 brown bears in Alaska.

Black bear

The black bear is found in most of Alaska southeastward through Canada to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and the Canadian Maritimes and south through New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and the Appalachian Mountains to Florida. On the west coast, it is found south from Alaska through northern California and the Rocky Mountain states to Mexico. It is also found in Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. The Louisiana black bear (Ursus americanus luteolus) is a subspecies of the black bear. It is a threatened species in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.
